Youthful healthy body in a world obsessed with antiaging…
I turned 47 last weekend and as I savour this beautiful moment, I give myself a pat on the back for allowing love to flow through.
Having the courage to make decisions that never felt easy
Savouring the leap, I took on love
Honouring the relationships whose stories has reached an end
The home that felt complete.
The inner fire for more.
Make another promise to myself to never abandon myself.
47 is the year I get to show up once again for all my needs both in sex, love, and intimacy.
The list can’t get any better, perhaps you might feel inspired by what’s on my list:
NOURISHING SEXUALITY, A FOUNTAIN OF YOUTHFULNESS
My body thrives with slow sex. So, nothing gives me pleasure than dropping into the moment-to-moment touches of a beautiful lover. The touch that enriches my mind, body, and soul.
When you reach this season of live, goal-oriented orgasms doesn’t seem fill the gap.
Here are the benefits of nourishing slow sex:
It decreases pain, if you’re experiencing chronic menstrual cramping, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, or fibromyalgia —research has shown that it decreases the sensation of pain up to 70% — better than taking Advil, Aleve, or Tylenol!
It feeds your brain. This type of pleasure is what I call cardiovascular exercise to the heart.
It also relieves tension, not only because of the endorphins that are released, but also because of the muscle spasms that happen internally and externally.
It improves sleep. Endorphins released during sex create an increased sense of relaxation and satisfaction — a great way to get a good night’s sleep!
It decreases appetite because we produce a hormone very similar to amphetamine called phenylethylamine, and this is a natural appetite suppressant.
It releases the love and bonding hormone oxytocin which curtails the stress hormone cortisol
“All bodies are born for nourishing sex; all bodies are born for orgasms.”
“All women deserve to experience a healthy sexuality. A healthy sexuality directly affects your biology.”
GUT LOVE FOR A YOUTHFUL HEALTHY BODY
You can’t fix your hormones without fixing the gut. So, if you want to feel vibrantly alive in your body then you need to take care of what you put in your body.
What we eat affects our hormones, organs, and behaviors. It’s important that we’re aware of the food that affects our moods.
Even though I love wine, I’ve noticed that drink my menstrual cycle is irregular. What types of food affect your mood, cycles, or sex drive?
Foods high in sugar is a no go especially if you don’t want to experience hormonal imbalance.
Eat a rainbow of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. If you’re a soda drinker, try swapping it out for green tea, which experts believe can help maintain cognitive function.
Symptoms of imbalance hormones includes:
- Hair loss
- Cycle changes
- Mood swings
- Brain fog
- Melasma (Brown skin pigmentation)
- Stubborn fat + Cellulite
- Hot flashes
- Trouble sleeping
- Low libido and more
70% of women experience estrogen dominance and 90% don’t even know they have it.
80 of women suffer from some degree of hormonal imbalance at lease once n their lifetime.
Foundational Supplements
These are the basic supplements that I take daily.
>> 5,000 IU of vitamin D
>> 1-2 grams of Dutch Harbor Omega fish oil
>> A high-quality multivitamin
>> Prebiotics, probiotics, and polyphenols in my morning shake
>> Magnesium glycinate before bed
CONTINOUS HEALING IS MUST TO THRIVE IN YOUR BODY
As a black woman, knowing that black bodies are unappreciated in the world, I’m aware there are some unresolved trauma that needs to be healed.
Generational trauma, racial trauma, interpersonal trauma, micro aggression not to talk about being a woman, raising children in a patriarchal system.
The stress of trauma can cause havoc to your youthful healthy body and keeping the nervous system in dysregulation causing auto-immune issues, anxiety, digestive problems, inflammation, chronic fatigue, and depression.
So, working with a therapist and trauma special is a must. Community support is key me nurturance.
MORE OXYTOCIN
Oxytocin help counterbalance cortisol’s negative effects. Perhaps hug your belly sometimes.
Make a proactive effort to carve out time in each day to connect with your friends.
Laugh, play, hug, and look into someone’s eyes and smile.
Oxytocin is the “O” in orgasm! Making love is a great way to counter cortisol’s negative effects.
